New Families

Enrolment

Starting school is a very exciting time for new students and families. We understand that it can also be a daunting experience for some, especially for new Preps.

For this reason, we have developed our successful Prep Transition program that helps to familiarise new students and families to our school and teachers.

Families are also encouraged to contact the school to arrange a personal tour of our facilities and learn more about our program and values.

Personal Tours

Our tours have begun for those looking to enrol in Prep for next year.
This is a very popular experience that will help you answer many questions and give you confidence in making a decision. We’ll show you our wonderful school in action! Please contact us to book a tour.

How do I enrol my child?

This year our school is using an online system for new enrolments to Victorian government schools. The portal is called VicStudents and is available for students who are enrolling in a Victorian Government School for the first time. This includes Foundation (Prep) enrolments for 2025.

To commence online enrolment visit https://students.educationapps.vic.gov.au/s/ to create an account and complete the online application form. Please ensure that all documents required are attached to the application.

A Quick Reference Guide to using the online system is available Parent Carer Quick Reference Guide.

VicStudents has been assessed by the Department of Education to a high degree of security in line with the  Victorian Protective Data Security Standards and is compliant with ISO 27001, the leading international standard for information security.

Parents wanting to submit a paper copy of their enrolment form and documentation directly to the office, can do so, and we will assist with the enrolment process.

Alice Johnson Pre-School Visits to Fairhills

Pre-School children and teachers from Alice Johnson Pre-School visit Fairhills during Term 3 and participate in activities with the Foundation teachers.

Buddy Program

At the start of the year, we pair Year 5 students with each Foundation child and they become special Buddies. Buddies help Prep students to settle in to big school and have a sense of belonging. Together they participate in special activities such as reading, crafts and practising to tie shoe laces!

Buddies are great role models of our value system and help to boost the confidence of new students. Our Year 5 students develop a strong sense of responsibility and leadership during the program and take pride in helping our new students adjust.
